In the Month of March, The Civility Center Reminds Us – “Each of us has the right and responsibility to improve the community, I am a resource and agent for change.”
Internationally renowned as the “go to” organization for anything related to civility, The Civility Center (The Civility Center), has created a monthly calendar that includes events, ideas, and inspiration from around the world. The Civility Calendar is available free online with the objective of encouraging people to bring their most kind, most considerate, and most civil self to all their interactions. Each month focuses on a different aspect of civility and its interaction with life, and March’s is “Civility In The Community.”

It is not lack of resources or effort that keeps communities from being successful but the lack of an intentional process, based on research and common sense. The plan must be broad-based and comprehensive, one that will incorporate all the efforts of individuals and institutions within the community and attract resources from many quarters. The message is : Each of us is part of a community, and everywhere community groups are working together for a better quality of life for themselves and their families. If we can find a way to involve ALL community members in finding solutions to local issues that address the issues of all residents, not just those with the most obvious need, we can build better communities. We just need to start the conversation with community leaders, talk to our neighbors, and get involved.
Every month includes an affirmation, and for March, the mantra is : “Each of us has the right and responsibility to improve the community, I am a resource and agent for change.”.”
